I am looking to expose and educate myself more on Indian culture. I am realizing I am very inexperienced as regards Indian culture in a way I don't like at all (i.e., in a way that can easily give rise to implicit bias and prejudice). Can anyone suggest a book (fiction) by an Indian or South-Asian author that involves their culture as a main feature or setting?
I've read and really enjoyed Rushdie's Midnight's Children, and I have The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy on hold right now. I'm looking for more recommendations, especially literature or something that can or has been viewed as a classic, but also open to anything.
