basically asking for book suggestions purely based on vibes- i will be traveling from the US to Tanzania for a few weeks, much of it solo. things have been depressing in the US (for obvious reasons) so i’m really looking for a reset this trip and would love a book to supplement that! what books have really reset your mind?
my interests: stories by women about women, historical fiction, love (especially if queer), light fantasy, memoirs/autobiographies containing the above content…honestly open for anything.

The Autograph Man by Zadie Smith
The Alexander trilogy by Mary Renault – onward Bucephalos, we have an empire to conquer!
Edit: I’m aware this looks very male-perspective at first glance, but look into Mary Renault’s way of writing queer characters as well as her personal life.
The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova is one of my all time favorite traveling books.
Big Swiss by Jen Beagin!!! Hilarious sapphic trainwreck of a “love” story
