I am sooo addicted to books with unreliable narrators. So far I've only read 3 (two from Nabokov, the other one I can't share bc it might be a spoiler haha). Any recommendations are welcome and greatly appreciated!
If you like literary sci-fi/fantasy—Gene Wolfe is legendary for his unreliable narrators. Shadow of the Torturer, Soldier of Sidon, Fifth Head of Cerberus are all fantastic

American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis is the best example of an unreliable narrator. It is a really graphic book tho

Wuthering Heights
The Sense of an Ending
The Remains of the Day
Never Let Me Go (Ishiguro likes unreliable narrators)
Study for Obedience by Sarah Bernstein, I’m including this because the first person narrative seems striking for what it doesn’t say as much as what it says and also the deeper messages hidden in seemingly simple sentences
SteMelMan on
The Last House on Needless Street by Catriona Ward.
This is the most “unreliable narrator” book I’ve read. There are multiple narrators and they’re ALL unreliable!
Which makes the story resolution(s) so satisfying for those of us who power through all the mis-directions.

We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson. Merricat is my favourite unreliable narrator.
