Hello,
English isn't my first language but I wanted to try some "classics" that were originally written in English. I've read plenty of "Chose your own adventures" books and never struggled. Now, I know that they are written mostly for kids but that's OK.
I had two books I wanted to try in English, the first being "1984" that I've already read in french, and the second, maybe, "The Old man and the sea".
Which books would you recommend, mostly something well written but not too difficult as I don't find myself bilingual.
For reference, some of my favorite books in french are : Fahrenheit 451 / The Road / Salem's Lot / Chess Story / The Robots and Fondation books … etc

Brave New World by Aldous Huxley is one of my favorites. It’s dystopian like 1984 and Fahrenheit 451. You have good taste. If you want something easier as far as the language goes, maybe something by H.G. Wells. The War of the Worlds is very popular. Anything Stephen King if you enjoyed Salem’s Lot.
The Old Man and the Sea is a powerful story I would readily recommend
