I’m going through some heavy anticipatory grief right now with my dog being terminally ill. I’ve been having lots of weird physical symptoms, I’d like to understand how grief affects the body and mind. Not looking for spiritual guidance but more interested in the scientific aspect of how as humans we react to grief and what can I expect as I go through this horrible period in my life and heal. Thank you in advance!
PS: please give your pets a hug from me, we nearly don’t have them long enough with us.

Try When the Body Says No. It’s not specifically about grief but it discusses how trauma and stress impact the body and contribute to illness and chronic pain.
tuesdays with morrie is a really good one, it’s got chapters on all the big parts of life like family, marriage, death, money. it’s basically like sitting down to talk with a very nice old man who’s giving you the realness of difficult situations
