I just finished reading the Epic of Gilgamesh and its related stories (Norton critical edition) and want to continue reading other ancient texts. My main problem is that a lot of them are short or fragmented and don't seem to always be published on their own.
Are there books that contain many ancient works (preferably Sumerian to Egyptian before I get started on Greek)? I'd also like to have some kind of commentary similar to Norton critical editions to understand them better. I've been using the Wikipedia page on ancient literature as a rough guide, and I think the Tale of the Shipwrecked Sailor would be next on my list if you ignore the shorter texts.
