A book that reminds you of an older classic film

There is something about older black and white films that I’ve always loved. Maybe it’s the unique storylines, the dialogue, and being mentally engaged with an intelligent storyline. They just have something special.

It doesn’t necessarily have to be from the 1930’s or ‘40’s but have any readers come across any books that have reminded them of really good, older classic films?

For example: I love 12 Angry Men and wouldn’t like a read that accomplishes something like what the film does.
