Book recs for my 87 year old grandmother

I want to get my Cuban grandmother (aka nothing liberal/leftist please) some books but my taste is pretty different from hers. She’ll also be reading them in Spanish.

She likes Pearl S. Buck books and My Next Year in Havana. She read My Brilliant Friend when I got it for her but didn’t love it lol.

I think period pieces with simple storylines will be best! She’s almost 90 so I don’t wna go too crazy 😅
