I'm making a new reading list and i wanted some of your opinions on the books that you NEED to read at some point in your life + classic books: things like animal farm, lord of the rings, jane austen. basically any genre just the kind of books english majors will have all read or that have a significant meaning!

I’ll put some French classics that I think deserves the same spotlight.
The Plague – Albert Camus
Flowers of Evil – Charles Baudelaire
Les Misérables – Victor Hugo
Germinal – Emile Zola
If a short story can count as a book, Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes.
The answer to all of these threads is always Nineteen Eighty-four.
