I have an appreciation for the Ocean & the cultures that have bloomed in relation to the Ocean.
I find the deep sea fascinating for how alien it is compared to the surface world.
I love the way that old & new ships look.
& I love a good Sailor’s tale, Pirate Adventure, Maritime Survival story, etc.
I am open to both Historical Non-Fiction in the likes of Master and Commander, Historical Fiction in the likes of Moby Dick, & more Fantastical Fiction like Pirates of The Caribbean.

{{The Scar by China Mieville}}. You don’t need to read the first in the series (though it’s good too). Takes place largely on a floating pirate city in a fantasy world.
Two Years Before the Mast is a memoir, but it’s worth reading.
The Hunt for Red October
‘In the Heart of the Sea’ was a great book that further cemented my fear/utmost respect for the power of the ocean and plans to never be in/on it under any circumstance.
I recently read {{The Wide Wide Sea: Imperial Ambition, First Contact and the Fateful Final Voyage of Captain James Cook by Hampton Sides}} and I loved it.
