Lately I've been thinking a lot about how people leave a mark on our lives. How sometimes they manage to touch our souls long after they're gone. For example, your favorite food might be something your grandma used to cook, you might have learned to play an instrument an old friend taught you or you might have learned some trick to impress your first love that you still do to this day.
Are there any books that explore this idea? Is there anything about the way people dear to us manage to become parts of us even if they're no longer directly in our lives?
I'm okay with both fiction and non-fiction. Thanks.
