Hello all,
Not necessarily really old words that are never used but more like ones that are rare or a bit archaic but very exact. Or one that contains specific meanings not encapsulated by normal speech or common words
I really care about making my speech more precise and to articulate exactly what I am trying to say
I just learnt the word ‘perspicuous’ for example – humorously it means ‘easy to understand’
And when I say rules I don’t mean things that are generally disagreed on like splitting the infinitive but rather just again focused on maybe more formal and slightly archaic speech patterns — though my focus is more on the words
I am looking for things more based on British English but I do enjoy the speech patterns and language of 19th and early 20th century US English, especially in the south perhaps? I know very little that’s why I’m looking for books on the matter
I
