I'm just getting back into reading, so I don't have any previous books that I've read that can show what kind of vibe I'm into. Tv show and movie-wise though, I love:
-
The Haunting of Hill House – Themes of grief and childhood trauma, showed the grieving process and ended in a healing way (I hope that's not too spoiler-y.)
-
Midnight Mass – What resonated with me mainly was the topic of lost time and wondering how to bounce back from that, having your sense of normalcy taken away from you, etc.
-
The Joy Luck Club – As an Asian American woman, the theme of generational and cultural differences and trying to understand those differences gave me a different outlook on my upbringing and made some things easier to stomach (a bit vague, sorry.)
-
Maid – Themes of domestic abuse and depression. A young woman deals with homelessness with her young daughter and goes through lengths to bring them out of it.
The grieving or trauma don't have to be specific. I think just reading about a character going through the healing process of anything is therapeutic for me, and there's always something to relate to. I'm in my healing arc, y'all. Lay all your suggestions on me.
