A Little Life is a horrible book. It has no meaning. It has no message. I don’t quite understand why people think that writing the most extreme and horrifying plot lines is good writing. All she did was torture the characters. It felt like she googled “examples of trauma” and copy and pasted them into a book.
I think this book separates trauma victims from people who wish they had trauma. It’s a book that makes trauma a commodity to be sold. I think people who enjoy it are people are the same who people who like to post on social media that they’re “so traumatized 🤪”.
The storyline is laughable for a book that tries to be “so real”. The writing is lazy. I hate it. I hate it. I hate it.

Couldn’t agree more! There was no reason for it to be that depressing, it’s not based on a true story, it’s just torture. But I do think the writing was really beautiful in places!
