As a kid, I was OBSESSED with the Harry Potter, Twilight and Hunger Games series. Would get so lost in the books you had to pry them out of my hands. Since then, I haven’t found a book or series that has captured me like that. I’m looking to get hooked again. I have already read ACOTAR and fourth wing, they didn’t do it for me. Suggest me a book that will have the same effect! I am a 33F if that helps.

I absolutely loved the Locked Tomb Series. From the gothic aesthetic to the witty character banter and the absolute pure genius of the world she creates. It’s a must read. Couldn’t put the books down.
I was really hooked on the Red Rising Series by Pierce Brown! Especially books 1-3.
Secrets of the Immortal Nicolas Flamel by Michael Scott had me fucking HOOKED from beginning to end and quickly surpassed HP as my favorite book series. and that’s coming from a massive potterhead.
You should check out Lois McMaster Bujold. Anything she writes is good, she is particularly known for relateable characters. I’ll recommend 2: *The Spirit Ring* is a YA fantasy book, *Ethan of Athos* is a sci-fi spy adventure set mostly on a space station.
Check out Diana Wynne Jones. Her writing was a big influence on J. K. Rowling. You might enjoy Howl’s Moving Castle or Chrestomanci.
You may also enjoy the Tiffany Aching series by Terry Pratchett
Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time
Try the Scholomance series by Naomi Novik. A Deadly Education is the first book.
Jade City.
The Talisman by Stephen King and Peter Straub.
Have you read The Lord of the Rings + The Hobbit? Those are up there with Harry Potter for me (also 33F)
I know it’s not like Harry Potter, but the magic system(s) in the Mistborn series is really satisfying. 🙂
Anything by Shannon Mayer I also love stuff by CJ archer
The Bartimaeus Series by Jonathan Stroud.
IMO a MUCH better and more interesting take on the “child becomes magician.”
It’s a fun, funny, socially important, and at times poignant trilogy.
I’ve been really into Signe Pike’s The Lost Queen series about Languoreth, Merlin’s forgotten twin sister
Jim Butcher Codex Alera series,
I’m currently binge reading Cradle and and it’s addictive as hell. The first book is the weakest, though.
Tesla And The Pyramid by Jenner Brown has the same effect.
Robin Hobb’s- Farseer Trilogy
Patrick Rothfuss- The Kingkiller Chronicle
the poppy war series by rf kuang. i don’t really read fantasy and find it a hard genre to commit to, but this one really grabbed me.
*The Farseer Trilogy* by Robin Hobb did that for me.
The Ninth House and its sequel Hell Bent by Leigh Bardugo. Magic, secret societies, and ancient texts in a university setting.
