i'm looking for something that will make me go "what the fuck am i reading" – weird and disturbing stories (thriller or horror) with the tropes of cannibalism or occultism (doesn't have to be both). would LOVE something where the character(s) go slowly insane because of what happens to them
- i just finished watching the tv show "yellowjackets" and would enjoy something similar. it's about people getting stranded after a plane crash and slowly going feral, mostly striven by hunger and fear. they end up being involved with cannibalism and occultism.
- i also liked the show "hannibal" and the movie "bones and all", basically cannibalism but make it romantic.
- another example would me "midsommar" which is about a cult
i only read "tender is the flesh" in this kind of genre
