Looking for very specific recommendations.
I am an avid reader and my best friend is slowly getting into the hobby. We've basically made a 2-person book club.
I am picky, but I don't think I'm super picky, since my to read is like infinitely long.
She'll read almost any silly romance as long as she's into the protagonist, but even then she'll push through books she's not super into as long as they hook her even a little. I'm REALLY wanting to read something fun with her, but a few of the one's we've tried I dnf'ed.
I don't mind bad plot or unlikable characters as long as the writing is legible and the characters don't flip flip one sentence to the next.
I really enjoyed the ACOTAR series, Throne of Glass, Carissa Broadbent is currently one of my favorite authors (right up there with Rachel Gillig). Also really enjoyed: Fourth Wing (hated the sequel), The Auction, Heaven Official's Blessing and Lisette Marshall's Fae Isle's, similar books.
I afore fantasy but we want to read mafia romance, giggle over omegaverse shenanigans, werewolves, whatever. I am happy to read weird things, like Unhinged or Forked, as well.
DNFed Haunting Adeline, Knox (Marino Brothers), Veil of Fate.
Really disliked: Flock, Blood and Ash series, Mindfuck series, A Court of Frost and Starlight (hated with all my heart).
My best friend really liked ACOTAR as well, and she found Exodus a fun little treat. She's also into: The Auction, Condemned to love, like strong asshole protagonists, like alphaholes. She also loved Neon Gods.
We particularly really want to read a mafia romance that we're both into!
