Midieval Suggestion

Hello everyone,

I am looking for a book kind of on the verge of Game of Thrones. I’ve never read a midieval book before and usually read comics and Kurt Vonnegut lol. My girlfriend owns The Blade Itself and thought that my be a good one to start with. Just wanted to know if there is something I’m really missing out on that I can start reading!
