Hello! I've been trying to get back into reading recently and I've got a very specific itch. I'm a very big fan of monsters/creatures and I've always been a fan of media that involves transformation of some kind. From what I've looked up though, recommendations to this type of question are a bit to the left of what I'm looking for so I'm hoping i can articulate what i want.

A lot of media that centers on this that i tend to stumble into leans a bit more towards younger kids and teens. I really want something that isn't scared of leaning into details and the more visceral aspects of such situations, both the transformation itself (new body parts, old body parts moving differently, physical struggles caused by these changes) and of the situation around it (social and psychological, especially around cases where the transformation is forced/difficult to reverse).

If you want it a bit shorter, The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess was incredibly formative for me in my youth and that's probably where my taste for this trope stems from.

    Thank you for any recommendations!
