I've tried so hard to get into fun romance novels, but just haven't had any luck with a lot of the ones I've picked up (usually modern ones with cartoon art on the cover and very Wattpad-y writing… USUALLY!! I don't want to lump all books from one genre together here!).
But… I am a sucker for a good romance! When Harry Met Sally is my favorite comfort movie ever! Pride and Prejudice is my favorite comfort book ever! I really want to find a romance that I actually like, that has realistic characters and relationship progression and good dialogue and actual pining and heat.
ALSO: Feel free to recommend books with romances in them that aren't strictly in the romance genre. Always looking for some nice pining…

Points for femdom of all types lol. This is a very indulgent request, but I do prefer a female led relationship (or at least the man being completely whipped if it's a heterosexual relationship). I think a lot of romance can feed into patriarchal roles and I'm very much not interested in that. I love a female character who's in charge and knows what she wants. (I'm saying this from a place of love for and lifelong experience with fanfiction, but I will actually cry if I have to see another snarky male lead calling a woman "princess" or something…)
