To those who are part of a book club: what was a book you would not have read if it weren’t for a club and were glad you did?

I am part of a book club with quite specific rules so I get exposed to books I have never heard of. But there are always books I (judging by the cover) think “oh this is gonna be a painful ride” and then get very pleasantly surprised. (Or the other way).
But maybe you are part of a book club where you read books you have heard all the hype about and do not have any interest to read, yet when you have to, you fall in love.
Any examples?
