I want to read a book that portrays the idea of living with something disturbing, being unable to accept it or do anything about it, where the character tries to live a normal life ignoring it but struggles to do so. It can be information, a memory, an object, whatever.
It's kind of abstract and specific but I just want to proyect my trauma and ocd feelings on a character I'm going to be honest.
It's even better if the character is written in a pathetic, intellectual and self destructive way, kind of like crime and punishment. Ty

I have just started the Broken Earth Trilogy with the first book being the Fifth Season by NK Jemisin and it was a heavy and heartbreaking book at times because the way one of the MCs experiences and deals with her traumas was so well written and realistic (from my perspective as a therapist). Her chapters are also written in second person (“you did/you felt”) that it made it even more personal to me. I really connected with the very fucked up things that happened to her and a few other characters. It’s a bit sci-fi, a bit fantasy during an apocalypse but the main thing is looking at how these characters survive and continue on. It’s heavy at times, but really well written.
