I have such a hard time finding new books to read. I feel like they’re all super quirky or gimmicky or about a specific thing that’s happening to the narrator right now. Or thrillers, which are not my jam. For context, books I’ve loved and re-read multiple times include A Tree Grows in Brooklyn (my all-time fave), She’s Come Undone, The Thorn Birds, My Dark Vanessa, Room, Demon Copperhead, Light a Penny Candle, Gone With the Wind…with a couple of exceptions, they’re stories that follow someone through several stages of their life. I like a good love story but not “romance,” don’t like fantasy, tend to be less fond of male protagonists (with exceptions, like Demon Copperhead) and male authors (again, with exceptions, like Wally Lamb). Anybody have suggestions for an amazing coming of age or saga type book that fits these specs? Or is there anyone here who also loved all the books I mentioned above and has another they think I’d enjoy? Thanks! 📚
