I personally loved Hawaii. Michener has an incredible talent for making his character’s worlds real; for the ancient Hawaiians (the first Polynesian settlers), their volcano and animal gods are living realities. As he moves through different cultures and perspectives he allows the characters to inhabit their realized worlds. His books are contemplative, thoughtful and intelligent.

The Source was great, cool concept around what happens in the same place over time. I read many of his novels as a teenager and they held my interest which says a lot.
