I want a book that covers Stalin as a person, as a ruler, the things he did, and the social, political and economic environment in Russia at the time.
I have narrowed it down to either Robert Service's two part series, or Stalin: the court of the red tsar.
Of the two which is closer to what i am looking for? Are there any other books that fit better?
Thank you!

I loved the fictional “The Autobiography of Joseph Stalin” by Richard Lourie.
Fictional autobiography of Joseph Stalin. Covers his childhood and all through his rise to power. Includes his feud with Trotsky, the purges, everything.
Stalin by Domenico Losurdo
