I’m a new parent and I hate self-help books in general. I find them unrealistic and most of the time full of subjective and non-scientific information.
On the other hand, I feel a bit guilty and anxious that I don’t read any parenting books to raise my kid well.
I want some suggestions with scientific background and hopefully easy to read. Thanks!

Well.. there is no one specific manual for good parenting because good parenting means different things to different people.
Is there something specific that you are anxious about? How old is your child?
Unconditional Parenting by Alfie Kohn
Get the Mindful Self-Compassion workbook by Kristin Neff and Christopher Germer, do the exercises yourself, and then apply the principles in your parenting.
Good Inside by Dr. Becky Kennedy!
Maybe Cribsheet by Emily Oster. It isn’t deep science but has a bit of research referenced.
I don’t like self help books but found The Book You Wish Your Parents had Read by Phillipa Perry useful

I’m a therapist and use this book both with my own kids and in my work with patients! It’s written in a very easy-to-read style with lots of comic book-style roleplay graphics. The information you learn is useful in so many situations.
