I am looking for good horror stories, preferably free of gore and adult content. Really, something very different from slasher fics or cheap scares. Something closer to the stories of Algernon Blackwood. Something like the atmosphere of dread and horror that H.P. Lovecraft builds up in his stories. (I don't like Lovecraft much besides). I'm also more interested in the horror aspect than personal drama.

Gateways to Abomination by Matthew Bartlett is wonderful and, if you like that one, most of his other stuff is also great, this one’s just the start. When I read Bartlett I listen to radio static on Spotify – try it, trust me!
I’d also highly recommend 20 Simple Steps to Ventriloquism by Jon Padgett, just a phenomenal short story from a very talented author.
Another great example that doesn’t get enough attention is N. by Stephen King. People will say The Mist is Lovecraftian, but N. is where it’s at. (I forget though if there’s content.)
Also check out M. R. James’s Ghost Stories of an Antiquary, they’re all pretty great.
