Hello good Redditors! As the header says I’m looking for a book with a strong and good motherly figure. She could be the protagonist, but doesn’t have to. Think “mother as mothers should be”, someone who gives love, strength and guidance to her children.

This is for a personal healing journey.

    Thank you in advance 🙏

      [**Room**](https://amzn.to/3WWNfcL) by Emma Donoghue

A deeply moving novel about a mother’s unconditional love and resilience. Told from the perspective of a five-year-old boy, it follows his and his mother’s life in captivity and their journey to freedom. The mother’s strength and devotion make this an unforgettable read.

This novel beautifully explores mother-daughter relationships through the stories of four Chinese immigrant mothers and their American-born daughters. It’s a powerful tale of love, wisdom, and the sacrifices mothers make for their children.

I attached the links in the titles above to their Amazon pages for you to check them out. Enjoy!

It’s fantasy but I really like the main character in The Broken Earth trilogy. She’s a mother to her core and she’s a damn strong one.

    3. The Covenant of Water has many incredible mothers. I also loved how they support their each other through multigenerational living.

My brain immediately went to The Magnolia Chronicles by Kate Canterbary. The mom is a bit meddle-y, pushing her daughter into dating, but she’s super supportive.

Same author has another standout mother but she mostly shows up in the last half of the Walshes series (even though she’s the mom of the first FMC). Though you could jump straight to the book Missing in Action in the splinter series and get a decent shot of her mothering.

Racquet V Reyes has a Caribbean Kitchen mystery series with a mother-of-a-young-child protagonist who is just trying her best. The first book is really good at balancing the motherhood content with some trouble-in-the-marriage and the actual murder mystery.

Lunar Love by Lauren Kung Jessen is largely about family and you get a decent amount of supportive familial relationships. Mostly the grandmother but you see how she supported both her daughter who went into the family business and the one who didn’t.

The Suite Spot by Trish Doller. Young mom just trying to do what’s best. Has a good mom herself and the male lead also has a good mom.

Wrapped with a Beau by Lillie Vale. FMC lives with her parents, who are great people.

The protagonist’s mom in These Witches Don’t Burn by Isabel Sterling is pretty good.

Barrayar by Lois Bujold, it’s the part of the Vorkosigan saga.

In some way, Remnant Population by Elizabeth Moon: >!mc is some kind of a foster aunt / mentor for one of the characters!<
