As the title says, can you please suggest me a book that changed your perspective about life? Due to many recent events in my life, my outlook on life has been very pessimistic and cynical. I want to prove myself wrong and still beleive life is beautiful. I am looking for an inspiration from a book.

    Thanks in advance:)

    1. The Sound Of A Wild Snail Eating is a short memoir about a woman coming to grips with a devastating chronic illness. It’s an unusual memoir but I really enjoyed it and feel like I learned something from it.

    2. A fiction series that changed my life/worldview is **Discworld** by Terry Pratchett. I read those almost constantly when my dad got sick and after he died. They offered so much comfort and humor while also unabashedly teaching me about human nature. Pratchett was a genius.

Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer

      Entangled Life by Merlin Sheldrake

The Walker’s Guide to Outdoor Clues and Signs- Tristan Gooley

The Botany of Desire by Micheal Pollan

The Triumph of Seeds by Thor Hanson

An Immense World by Ed Yong

Relm of the Elderlings series by Robin Hobb

Any book written by Terry Pratchett

Afraid I have suggested more than one 🤷‍♂️

    4. Man’s Search of Meaning by Viktor E. Frankl. “A profound exploration of finding purpose and meaning in life, even amidst unimaginable suffering, drawing from the author’s experiences in Nazi concentration camps and his development of logotherapy.”

    5. After reading the title, I was gonna say 1984 by Orwell, but then I read the post and it may not be a good recommendation if you want reasons to be optimistic.

Maybe “When Light Pierced the Darkness” by Nechama Tec. It’s about the people in poland who sheltered jews during the nazi invasion.

    6. Julia Fox’s memoir “Down the Drain” was strangely inspiring. She’s been through sooo much shit and survived, it made me more optimistic about being able to handle whatever the future throws at me. I’ve heard the audiobook is great, she narrates it.

    7. Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance and its sequel Lila by Robert Pirsig. I was at a crossroads in my life and they really helped give me perspective. Fair warning though, I tried rereading them recently and they held no magic. But, they might work for you like they did for me back in the day.
