I have sort of a weird niche of nonfiction that I'm really into. As the title says, I'm interested in non-fiction books a way of life, community, religion, hobby, profession, etc. written by someone who is an outsider, but who immerses themselves into that community/way of life.
Some examples of what I mean:
- Cheap Land Colorado by Ted Conover: the author spends time living with off-griders in rural CO.
- American Harvest by Marie Mutsuki Mockett: the author spends a season with a group of christian wheat harvesters
- Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer by Warren St. John: author spends time immersed in Alabama football mania
Any other suggestions?
