I'd love to read a book that feels like it was strongly influenced by Magical Girl anime. Or, if not exactly that, I'd love a fantasy story centered on a girl (or group of girls) involved with the supernatural but also the humdrum of everyday life at high school or something similar (college, a day-job, etc.). Some other guidelines:
-I'd love a book about female friendships! Girls supporting girls!
-The "age-rating" of the book does not concern me; children's novel, YA, "adult," I don't care. And when I say children's novel, I'm thinking of something like Artemis Fowl or Harry Potter, a proper novel but aimed at children. Of course, I might be willing to binge a series of small kids' books if they really scratch my itch.
-PREFERABLY no smut, but if you think you have the perfect recommendation aside from that, feel free to pitch it (just warn me about the smut!)
-If you aren't familiar with Sailor Moon or Magical Girls as a genre, I'm also thinking along the lines of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I'm not into REAL horror, but horror-adjacent could be fine
-If you think of a book that tackles these ideas but isn't really supernatural, I could also be willing to accept that!
-I'd like something new. I feel like I've only been reading old books lately and I'd like to give new authors a chance.
WHEW. I know that was a lot of criteria, but I was actually trying to cast a wide net, not a small one. I really hope you guys can help me find something!
