I've been reading a lot of scholarly books as of late (Tolkien, Orwell, etc.) I would like a quick book to read next as a bit of palate cleanser that is entertaining but doesn't require as much thought or reflection to read. Some genres I like are Fantasy, Horror, and Science Fiction.

the disc world books by Terry Pratchett are funny, though with all humor mileage may vary. Same with the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. Light, entertaining sci fi.
Shady Hollow – it’s a series but you can read them out of order if you want but there is some good character development if you read them in order.
Maggie’s Grave by David Sodergren is a fun and quick horror read!
