I realised that I love thinking about the implications of certain tropes that get glossed over and used for horror purposes. Absolutely adore "Flowers for Algernon" and how by putting it in first person, you experience the tradic horror of slowly losing your intelligence and being powerless to do anything. Or the body swap horror of "Sibs" by f. paul wilson and "Apastoral: A Mistopia" by Lee D Thompson and how noww you're sense of self and your personal identity is something that can be taken away and used in horrific ways.
Obviously there's lovecraft and stuff like "What if the colour spectrum was evil" or "What if me being racist about this town of weirdos was correct"
I know I mentioned examples of Psychological horror but I'm open to have any type of tropes subverted or recontextualised for horror purposes
