Hello all, I've noticed that the good majority of my Penguin Classics books are in their typical, orange-author-text-white-cursive-book-title-spine format; however, a few of my classics have bolded white author names and book title spines and covers; and the Penguin 'white band' on the side of those editions is significantly thicker and more minimalist. Is there a name for these? And how come there seem to be two editions of some Penguin Classics books – like for example, I ordered Thus Spoke Zarathustra and expected it to look like how it was on Amazon (in the classic, typical Penguin Classics format), but instead, I got an edition that just looks more modern and to be frank, it's really pissing me off because it doesn't match with the rest of my collection. Again, is there a name for these more modern and minimalistic looking Penguin Classics editions? Thank you.

In the last year or so they updated their style, the newer modern look you’re describing is how they will be printed from here on out for the next few years. I think it looks pretty slick if you ask me but I also understand your frustration that it doesn’t match. I also preferred the old font
All of these are a major improvement on their look from a few decades back
The orange looked way better imo, and yes I’m annoyed since I have a substantial amount (50+) of the existing style.
