Two common suggestions if you love HP are Midnight for Charlie Bone which is YA and Rivers of London, which is adult. Rivers is still being published. Charlie Bone has a follow up series but I did not like it.
Daughter of Smoke and Bone – Laini Taylor
The Keepers – Lian Tanner
Artemis Fowl – Eoin Colfer
Skullduggery Pleasant – Derek Landy
Discovery of Witches – Deborah Harkness
The Lunar Chronicles – Marissa Meyer
Legend series – Marie Lu
The Unwritten – Graphic novels
The Chronicles of St Mary’s and also The Time Police – both by Jodi Taylor
39 clues are very YA and have a ton of shorter books, but they are pretty fun

Shades of Magic trilogy by VE Schwab it can be quite dark, but it’s immersive and the magic is very cool.
Sands of Arawiya dulolgy by Hafsah Faizal – magic, demons, witches, goddesses, set in an Arabian inspired world.

I really liked David Eddings’ two 5-book series’ *The Belgariad* and *The Malloreon*.

Curse of Chalion by Lois McMaster Bujold is my favorite. No orcs, elves, magic swords or fireballs. No world saving quest either. Just can the hero save the princess from the aforementioned Curse.
