I'm looking for some new books to check out, fantasy is great but I also enjoy historical settings. I love dark themes and angst, so don't hold back lol. I'd prefer the mc to be a gay/bi guy.
The Song Of Achilles by Madeline Miller is probably close to what you want. It’s a lovely book.

The Monster of Elendhaven is a dark pseudo-historical (is that what it’s called? when everything’s just like vaguely Victorian lol) fantasy that fits

What Moves the Dead/What Feasts at Night by T Kingfisher. Gender queer main character, spooky adjacent books. Take place in the 1890s
The Fireborne Blade/The Bloodless Princes by Charlotte Bond. Lesbians and dragons.
We Used to Live Here by Marcus Kliewer. Main character is a lesbian but it’s not a big plot point. Still a great book. Very creepy horror book, back rooms vibes and a major mind fuck
Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller. Gay romance and beautifully written.
Wolfsong by TJ Klune. Gay werewolves. It’s spicy idk if you’re into that.
