HIII! I started reading my first physical book—No Longer Human—last year and finished it at the start of January. After that, I became rlly interested in books! I also started reading Tian Guan Ci Fu, a Chinese danmei novel, and I’m currently on book 3. Aside from those, I’ve only read manga/manhwa/manhua online..

I want to get more into books, preferably novels. Can anyone suggest some? Please include a bit of context and your rating. TYSMMM!! <33

    1. [The Bell Jar](https://www.faber.co.uk/product/9780571081783-the-bell-jar/) by Sylvia Plath (very similar themes to No Longer Human, also semi-autobiographical, and Plath comitted suicide shortly after it was published. I rate 🌳🌳🌳🌳/5)

[Earthlings](https://groveatlantic.com/book/earthlings/) by Sayaka Murata (I haven’t read it yet but it’s about a quirky alienated girl/woman who refuses to conform to societal expectations. I hear it’s quite disturbing and shocking too)

**My Year of Rest and Relaxation** by Ottessa Moshfegh is a page-turner! I finished it in one sitting. The tone differs from No Longer Human, but I think the story tackles similar themes of depression and inner turmoil.

**The Picture of Dorian Gray** by Oscar Wilde is a beautifully written classic! It has homoerotic undertones as the author himself was gay, so if you enjoy danmei, you’ll probably enjoy this too.

Both are five-star reads to me. 🙂
