if you had to add to a high school reading curriculum, and wanted to include more female-oriented characters that weren’t crazy (ex: bell jar) or romantic (ex: jane austen), what would you include?

I reflected on my high school reading curriculum and how male-oriented it was. And of the female books, there were a couple like Edith Wharton that were really solid but alot of female oriented novels were either romantic in nature or about an insane women. What "formative" books would you add to round out a high school reading curriculum?
