Forgive me for my lack of… eloquence. I am not a very smart or bookish person, but I figured this subreddit would be the best place to ask this question and get some opinions on it.
Is Oskar trans? Initially I had been assuming he was cis the entire book until I got to a page. I'm gonna spoiler this next bit incase it's a spoiler even though I'm pretty sure it isnt. Oskar is performing in the play when he begins imagining an exchange with a bully, Jimmy Snyder. In his long list of problems he has with Jimmy, he mentions that Jimmy makes fun of him "just because [he] has a pussy" (Foer 146) This part caught me off guard because Ihad been assuming he was cis the whole time. Maybe I could be misconstruing this; if Oskar is trans, that wording would be very vulgar thing for him to say, because he's only nine, and it's out of character as well. So this leads me to believe he means something else. But what else could that mean?? This was written pretty recently so I know he's not talking about a cat. I've googled it and I've seen no one mention this. What do you all think?
