Hi! Was thinking about what I'd really like to read about, and I started thinking about the 1600-1700s. That early colonial era, the foundation of wooden forts and racoon hats and flintlocks. I'm less interested in the American Revolution and more that early settler period.
I suppose I prefer my history somewhat more popcorn-ish. And so I was wondering if anyone knows of any fun books set in that kind of setting? Y'know, some adventure, some action, some romance. I'm not really interested in reading a thesis on the horrors of colonialism; but rather the discovery of a New World! I'd also prefer it if the book itself was somewhat newer. Doesn't have to be that new, but I'm kind of an idiot and so all that old, old English kind of writing style doesn't really do it for me.
Appreciate any and all suggestions!
