I love reading nonfiction books, but hate when they feel like I'm reading a textbook. I love mystery, history, health, autobiographies, and anything else you throw at me!

The whole narrative nonfiction genre is what you’re after. Check out:

      Bad Blood by John Carryrou

      Red Notice by Bill Browder

All The Devils Are Here by Bethany McLean

    2. Two health-related or health-adjacent nonfiction books I couldn’t put down:

What My Bones Know by Stephanie Foo (TW for childhood neglect)

Vagina Obscura by Rachel E. Gross (fascinating and under-studied, under-reported)

      Not health-related but very relevant:

The Undocumented Americans by Karla Cornejo Villavicencio

Last Stop Auschwitz by Eddy de Wind

    3. The Indifferent Stars Above by Daniel James Brown. It’s a bit grisly as it tells the story of the Donner Party, but it’s an excellent book.

In Cold Blood by Truman Capote is another one I enjoyed that sort of fits this.

    4. I just finished *The Wager* by David Grann! I don’t read a ton of nonfiction, but this really had an excellent pace. I also love Mary Roach for engaging non-fiction!

Do no harm by Henry Marsh. A brain surgeons memoirs written in a really interesting way.

    6. Check out pretty much everything by Erik Larson. Devil in the White City is phenomenal, but the rest are solid too, and he has a fairly wide variety of topics to choose from.
