Hi, I recently read both of the above books and was blown away by each of them for different reasons. I loved the prose and atmospheric tone of Piranesi, and I found myself lost in the tension and subtle yet immersive world building of HTLTYW. I loved the character driven narratives of both books, as well the rather esoteric themes of identity/personhood of both stories, and much more.
I would love recommendations of books with similarities to these. I am primarily drawn to shorter books and novellas these days, but will gladly take longer suggestions as well. The other Susanna Clarke books are on my radar already, but feel free to comment on those ad well.
Most importantly, I think I am looking for character-centric narratives, and similar themes.
Throw whatever you got at me. I primarily read fantasy and science fiction, but I’m down to read anything right now. Thanks in advance!
