I'm looking for books that are mossy/cottagecore-y/foresty and set in the woods with queer main characters. They can be fluffy or scary or fantasy or thriller or whatever. YA or adult works.
Some books in this genre I've liked:
- Compound Fracture by Andrew Joseph White (the book that got me on this kick)
- The Bog Wife
- Motheater
- Sorrowland
- Don't let the Forest In
- The story in We Won't Be Here Tomorrow and Other Stories by Margaret Killjoy with the LOTR LARP tribes

how about {{Legends and Lattes by Travis Baldree}}
*Don’t look in the trees* by Jason Nickey is a sci-fi “horror” (not so scary though, and LGBT) short story with two boys coming back home from a bonfire party. It is a bit specific but it could match and it is not a long read (something like 80 pages). It is not literature but that’s “funny” and in “alien invasion” mood.
The Honey Witch by Sydney Shields is a cottagecore lesbian fantasy romance with more emphasis on bees and gardens than mossy forests but I think still meets the request.
In the Lives of Puppets by TJ Klune starts out this way. It’s loosely based on the Pinocchio story, and the protagonist is queer.
