Preferably written by a women as I tend to prefer female authors (they’re descriptions of women aren’t off putting) I read a lot of fantasy/romantasy but romance is not essential I’m looking to read more outside that genre. I quite like complex worlds/systems. Or even something that feels like the hunger games but for adults would be good. I’m unsure if any good books exist that fit this description. But I’m hopeful 😂

The Broken Earth Trilogy by N.K. Jemisin is a fantasy apocalyptic trilogy (meaning they are literally in the middle of the apocalypse, as opposed to after everything has already fallen apart). The author and main character are both female. It has a complex and detailed world, and not much romance.
