My Mom is going through a rough time. Two of her brothers are in the hospital and at least one of them isn't expected to make it.. she and I have always shared a love for reading but we have very different tastes in books. I'm all about fantasy or thriller whereas she only really reads history or true crime or biographies. She's never tried historical fiction but I think she might enjoy it if she tried a good one. So, I'm looking for anything she might like. Something she can unwind her days with and/or read while she waits at the hospital.
Thank y'all in advance!

An American Beauty by Shana Abe – It is historical fiction set in the Gilded Age but it is about real people.
The Briar Club by Kate Quinn – It is set in the 1950s and involves some of the politics and societal issues of that time period.
Take My Hand by Dolene Perkins-Valdez
Shana Abe and Kate Quinn in general are great for historical fiction that are intriguing and well researched.
She might enjoy Agatha Christie’s works such as The Murder of Roger Ackroyd, And Then There Were None, and The Sleeping Murder. Also, check out some books by Taylor Jenkins Reid (Daisy Jones and the Six and The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo)
Reputation by Lex Croucher
Le Assaggiatrici by Rosella Postorino
City of Girls by Elizabeth Gilbert
Lady of the Army: The Life of Mrs. George S. Patton
“A masterpiece of seminal research, Lady of the Army is an extraordinary, detailed, and unique biography of a remarkable woman married to a now legendary American military leader in both World War I and World War II.”
