Looking for gripping non-fiction. Some books I recently enjoyed:
Empire of Pain, Say Nothing – Patrick Radden Keefe
The Wager – David Grann
Spy and the Traitor – Ben Macintyre
American Kingpin – Nick Bilton
The Gene – Siddhartha Mukherjee
I usually prefer science/healthcare themes, and found Empire of Pain hard to put down.
Any suggestions welcome!

I haven’t read those but The Code Breaker about making the Covid vaccine was a good book.
Hidden Valley Road by Robert Kolker is excellent.
The Billionaire Murders by Kevin Donovan. Set in Toronto. Similar-ish to HBO’s Succession.
The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot. A different vibe to Empire of Pain but a fascinating story that lingers with you.
Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer. It’s a completely different work of non-fiction about nature and climate change BUT a similar level of gravitas and an all consuming story.
