Any suggestions?

I'm new into reading books and used to watch a lot of movies and realised a lot of movies were actually adopted from books Even though they are adopted books are actually more better than movies so just to increase my reading ability I've read silent patient and verity both of them were sooo hyped in social media but I've not really connected to them as verity felt they are just dragging the story and their exotic romance overshadow the little bit of story present in the book and silent patient liked the screenplay but I thought that story could've been more better (these are just my opinion and I'm not telling that these are bad just telling I've had expected something moree) so can someone suggest a thriller book , a love story , any book of any genre it just make me to sit and read
