I picked reading back up about 3 months ago and started with the Harry Potter series. I genuinely did not know I could love books so much. They’re the best stories and characters ever, but the problem is, I’m having trouble moving on to other decent books now. After finishing HP I read the Lincoln Lawyer books, The Midnight Library (recommended by ChatGPT lol), and Among the Bros (recommended by my mom). Out of those, The Lincoln Lawyer books have been decent, but nowhere near as gripping and exciting as HP.
Did anybody go through this similar experience? I’m just wondering if there’s a book genre that I’m missing out on entirely that is like Harry Potter. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!!

the chronicles of narnia!
Here are two book series I love. But there are a lot of them. Both authors got better as they went so early book are good, but later book are great.
The Dresden Files. Urban Fantasy.
Discworld – Amazing Author, you could read them in publishing order or look up a reading order guide to break them into smaller chunks.
Also books by Mercedes Lackey. There are a TON if them but she writes in 3 book groups.
The Raven Cycle books (first book is Raven King) – I would describe this as YA still but “older” than HP.
Name of the Wind – is a fantasy epic with amazing writing and storytelling (though be aware only 2 of the 3 books are done)
Golden Compass – is the first of another YA series; though the first book is one of my all time favorites, the rest of the series drops off in quality IMO (unlike HP)
Game of Thrones – is another fantasy series with epic world building (be aware only 5 of the 7 books are written but you can find out what happens-ish by reading recaps of the TV show which did continue the story past the books)
The lunar Chronicles
Honestly there’s nothing that I’ve found that fills the void that Harry Potter does. Some others that are great in their own and somewhat similar ways though are the Percy Jackson series, Inheritance Cycle (Eragon series), Bartimaeus Sequence (most underrated YA fantasy series, can’t recommend this one enough especially in audiobook form), Narnia, and Hobbit + Lord of the Rings.
I think all of these to some extent just have worlds and characters that you can get really lost in and attached to and that feel comfortable like Harry Potter does.
