i recently got back into reading again after falling away from it for several years. i can blow through a series pretty quickly, and so i’m running out of material fast. Goodreads is looking to be a bit of an echo chamber of the same 50 books, and so i’m trying to branch out. i love love a good fantasy novel, and tend to enjoy the writing of women more, but i’m looking for something a little better than all of the “The ___ of ___ and ____” books that exist. I just finished the Priory of the Orange Tree, and grew up loving the Shadowhunter world.
some of my favorite books (series) are:
The mirror visitor quartet by Christelle Dabos
The Daevabad Trilogy by Shannon Chakraborty
Dragonsong by Anne McCaffrey
The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller (and also Circe by her)
i just read:
fourth wing series
the bridge kingdom series
the rose bargain
the cruel prince
priory of the orange tree
bonus points if it has dragons, i love dragons!! thank you so much in advance!

The Temeraire series by Naomi Novik. Historical fantasy series that retells the Napoleonic Wars, but with dragon riders (and yes, the dragons talk)
The Pinhoe Egg by Diana Wynne Jones
