I’ve gone down quite a rabbit hole lately and have literally depressed myself with some of the books I’m reading. I need something to turn it around. I’m not tied to a specific genre I’m looking for but I’m going to list off some of the things I’ve been reading recently so you can get a good idea of what has kept my interest and might help guide a book suggestion.
Recently I’ve read the following …
Nuclear War: A scenario (Annie Jacobsen)
The Doomsday Machine (Daniel Elsberry)
Rise and Fall of the Third Reich (Shrier)
I’ve also read several books by Micheal Connelly and really enjoy those, but they are pretty bleak too. Lincoln Lawyer is my favorite character of his and those books in particular.
I’ve read all of the stuff from Andy Weir and really enjoy him (especially Project Hail Mary).
I’m reading the Dune Series occasionally. It’s dense and I enjoy the universe but actually enjoy the movies and TV series more than the books.
And one I REALLY LIKED …. A Psalm for the Wild Built (Becky Chambers). This is probably as close to a happy story as I’ve gotten recently.
Any help is appreciated! 😊

The Long Way to a Small and Angry Planet – it’s another Becky Chambers book and kind of medium on the serious to fluffy scale.
For a mostly fun space opera: Starlight’s Shadow by Mihalik
